Dr. Jacqueline Olurin Lynch - Clinical Psychologist

Team Leader

Dr. Lynch did her initial training in Psychology at Plymouth and then moved to the Institute of Psychiatry in London to research Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In 1991 she moved to the University of Sheffield to complete her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology.

Dr. Lynch has worked for five years in the Child and Family Mental Health Team in Doncaster before taking up the team leader role for S.T.E.P.S in Rotherham.

Linda Calverley -  Education Liaison Co-ordinator 

Deputy Team Leader

Linda initially qualified in Youth and Community, organising youth clubs, drop-in centres and support groups.  Having a keen interest in sports and water-sports she co-ordinated European Youth Exchange programmes based around sporting activities.  She then moved to a post in education as an Education Welfare Officer specialising in family support and exclusion procedure.  As part of the working groups on business planning she gained a certificate in management development.  She went on to study and qualify as a Social Worker at Leeds/Bretton Hall. Linda then studied family therapy at Sheffield, thus increasing her knowledge and involvement in mental health issues.  She then secured a secondment from education onto a C.A.M.H.S. project, the Professionals Advice and Support Service offering intervention packages and support to primary care workers across the borough of Doncaster. 

Linda is now employed by S.T.E.P.S. as their Education Liaison/Deputy Team Manager to develop links though education to promote a culture of mentally healthy schools and young people.  

June Montgomery – Primary Health Care Co-ordinator

June is a Registered General Nurse and is also qualified as a Registered Nurse (Child) and holds a Diploma in HE obtained at Northumbria University.  In nursing, June worked in the speciality of Paediatric Intensive Care and was employed by the Sheffield Children's Hospital before joining Rotherham Priority NHS Trust.
Before joining S.T.E.P.S. June was employed as a Health Visitor since receiving a BA(Hon) CHCN at Sheffield Hallam University.

As Primary Care Co-ordinator at S.T.E.P.S. June is keen to raise awareness and liase with Tier One professionals in developing and implementing packages of care of early intervention to children and parents who are deemed at risk of developing mental health difficulties. 

Richard Crook- Occupational Therapist.

Richard joined as a full time member of STEPS February 2000, after working in Doncaster Child and Family Mental Health Team and Mexborough Montague Hospitals rehabilitation service. Before studying OT at Sheffield Hallam University, Richard worked in export marketing and business research.

As an OT, Richards role in the team will include offering:

o        1:1 therapeutic sessions

o        group work facilitation

o        assessment of occupational performance

He is the named worker for the central Rotherham locality.

Natasha Chowdhary – Social Worker

Natasha completed her diploma in social work at the Black Country Programme in the West Midlands in 1995. She then went on to achieve a BA in applied social studies at Staffordshire University.Natasha joined the STEPS team full time in February 2000. She is seconded from Rotherham Social Services Programme Area where she worked on locality for two and a half years. Prior to that she undertook residential social work in assessing families with children under 5 in Nottingham and youth work in a residential retreat centre in Derbyshire.

As a social worker, Natasha’s role will include undertaking social aspects of the teams assessments, and providing advice to the team around child protection and Looked After children issues. She is the named worker for north Rotherham locality.

Mandy Pickering – CPN for children in residential care

Mandy is a community psychiatric nurse for Rotherham Health and Social Services, with a special interest in children and young people who are looked after by the local authority and in residential care. She has gained a wide experience of working in mental health services over 16 years, and has 2 years community nursing experience.

She has qualifications in nursing and counselling and is able to provide support to young people and residential care staff. Mandy is keen to meet residential social workers in Rotherham and to offer support and consultation where there are difficulties in supporting young people.

Christina Parkin - Community Mental Health Nurse (RGN, ONHC, Dip Counselling)

Christina has nearly 30 years experience in nursing and she has worked as a School Nursing Sister in the Rother Valley Primary Care Group for 11 years.  She was the Mental Health Liaison Nurse in Rotherham for three years.

Christina joined STEPS in December 2000 taking on a new post which is still developing to meet the mental health needs of children, adolescents and families in the Rotherham area.

Charlotte Baker – Development Worker

Charlotte studied Psychology at the University of Sheffield and then moved to the University of Stirling to complete an M.Sc. in Psychology and Health. She has worked as an Assistant Psychologist in the fields of brain injury, adult mental health and older adults, before taking on the role of Assistant Psychologist within the S.T.E.P.S. team.  She is now the Development Worker for Children and Young Persons Mental Health Services, based at S.T.E.P.S. Her role involves the promotion of the mental health of child and young people, and to consult with service users to identify their needs.

Yvette Cotton – Secretary

Yvette is new to the health authority, having previously worked in the manufacturing industry. She started 6 years ago in manufacturing as receptionist, added position of secretary to Managing Director (part of Executive team) just after that. She then moved into Bill of Material Data Administrator overseeing 4 different manufacturing processes, operating through an MRP system. Previously to this Yvette worked as Library Assistant for Rotherham Borough Council.
